Only in Kansas...

Can you have 70 to 80 degrees one day and have this the next!

It started out yesterday as sleet and lasted most of the day and night and then sometime during the night it turned into snow and of course the wind is blowing so that means drifts! They were saying on the news that we are in a pocket right now and that it is suppose to hit again! Depending on what channel you watch they said we could have anywhere from 6 to 12 inches out of this. The weather man said on average we get about 15 inches in a winter and we were sitting at about 6 before all this and they said we could go well over the average with this storm. It is suppose to be Spring and in Kansas spring means worrying about tornadoes, which we had Severe thunderstorms last Monday and were in a tornado watch! Only in Kansas...I am so ready for spring though and warmer weather!!!

This is the view out my front door of my front yard and my side yard to the east.

This is a view of my back yard and the side yard. The little black speck on the the right of the first picture is a car over on the road to the west of us...we can usually see the cars on that road very clearly! This is the view from inside the house...the picture on the top is the windows on the front side (south) of the house and they are covered with snow and the picture on the bottom is the windows on the back side (north) of the house covered with ice. What a lovely view...NOT!!! I only have one window on the west side that I can see out of at the moment.

Who Knows???

Yesterday, March 19, 2009 was a busy day! DH was gone most of the day so that meant that DD and I were on calf duty! We have new baby calves arriving and we have to go out and check cows just to make sure there is no problems and the vet doesn't need to be called. As of yesterday we have 4 little ones (3 bulls and 1 heifer) two born on Wednesday and two born yesterday! Only 18 more to go and hopefully with no problems!!! I need to get some pictures, but DD just loves going out and watching her "baby palfs!"

For lunch yesterday I fixed fish sticks and tatar tots, nothing out of the ordinary! DD used ranch to dip hers in which she refers to ranch as dip no matter what it is on! Just like her dad has to have ranch with everything...lol! I mention all of this because all of a sudden I noticed this:

Who knows what caused this but I immediately gave her Benadryl and of course this had to happen right before nap and because her lips were swelling a little and not knowing what caused this I kept her up past her normal nap time. About an 1 1/2 later her face was still red but she seemed to act fine and DD was DEFIANTLY ready for a nap so I went ahead a laid her down and with having the benadryl and a later nap she slept for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours and when she woke up she was fine!

Later that evening after supper DH was cutting up seed potatoes to put in our garden and DD helped by handing him the potatoes out of the bag and she kept telling DH "Daddy, I help" it was so cute and she thought she was such a big girl and was doing daddy a big favor, which she was!!!

Hopefully whatever caused this was just a flook and it won't happen again, because if it was the ranch all of a sudden and DD can't have her "dip" I can see there being major problems!!!

2nd Birthday Party!!!

We had DD's 2nd Birthday party on Febuary 21, 2009! It was a cow theme...if you know DD then you understand! She can name different breeds of cows, tell you what kinda of cows we have, which are Black Angus Cows, name heifers (heipers), steers, bull, bull with papers (can't say registered very good), and you get the point! She loves helping with the cows and anything to do with cows, so it was only appropriate to have a cow birthday party and let me say finding just cow stuff is harder than you think. I happened to find a couple of sights on the internet for the decorations and I made the invitations and the cakes! I also found a site for her shirt and had it designed! So, here are a few pictures from her party!
Her is pictures of DD's cakes-sheet cake is white and the cow cake is chocolate, invitations, and the decorations! The table that has the inflatable cow on it had a white table cloth with birthday confetti on it with the cow in the center, but I didn't get a picture of it while it was decorated.

These are pictures of her gifts! I think DD did very well and she loves playing with every one of them. Thank you everybody!!!

After her party we went out with a couple of friends that came to the party and ate supper...Mexican food! Mexican is one of DD's favorites especially dipping the chips in the salsa. After supper we went buy and picked up the picnic table that Aunt M got her and came home and of course when we got home DD insisted on having the picnic table set up and even tried it out!
It was a very good day and I think everyone had fun! I know we did and DD enjoyed playing with all her friends and new toys! Again, I would like to thank everyone and Happy 2nd Birthday DD!!!
